New Era CPAs’ 2nd installment of Cannabis Finance Bootcamp was a smashing success. Taking place in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles, over June 2nd & 3rd, it featured esteemed industry-leading presenters with professionals coming from all over the United States to attend. From the curated list of presenters, their invaluable industry insight, impressive venues, and networking opportunities; Cannabis Finance Bootcamp was an event not to be missed.

For those not in the know, Cannabis Finance Bootcamp, presented by New Era CPAs, is an educational symposium on tax and legal issues relating to the cannabis industry. Targeting cannabusiness owners, operators, attorneys, those working in the financial realm, and those who simply want to learn more about the fastest growing industry in America, the purpose of the seminar is to educate professionals on how to start, operate, and maintain a successful and compliant business in the cannabis industry. This was the second installment of the Bootcamp – the first occurred September 25th, 2015 in Portland, OR.

Starting on Thursday, June 2nd at the Miyako Hotel in the historic Little Tokyo district of Los Angeles, Day One focused on California-specific regulations and policy. Khurshid Khoja, Principal & Founder of Greenbridge Corporate Counsel, opened the day with his keynote address titled, “Cannabusiness is still the business of ending prohibition”. Continuing support was provided by Nate Bradley, Ariel Clark, David Weidenbach, Dave Branfman, and James Slatic.

Day Two took place Friday, June 3rd in the stunning Japanese American National Museum’s Tateuchi Democracy Forum theater. Highlights of the day included James Slatic’s raw and heartbreaking recount of the federal raid of his manufacturing facility, Med-West, earlier this year (watch the video here). Later in the afternoon, we were treated to a compelling and engaging interactive panel discussion, “Operating in the Regulated & Unregulated Marijuana Market”, featuring the unstoppable lineup of James Slatic, David Weidenbach, Hunter Bradshaw, and Nate Bradley, with the NCIA’s Aaron Smith moderating. Dave Branfman of Branfman Law Group closed out the day with a lecture on intellectual property in the cannabis industry followed by a lively Q&A session.

We had a great time putting this together and working with everyone involved, and are eagerly looking forward to our next seminar – stay tuned for more details to come!

We’d like to extend a HUGE thank you to all who attended and participated!

It wouldn’t have been the same without all of you!!
